Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Desktop Engineer to join our client's team. As a Senior Desktop Engineer, you will play a crucial role in providing advanced technical support and ensuring the stability and efficiency of our organization's desktop environment. This is a 3-month contract position that requires onsite presence in Upper Hutt.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert-level technical support for desktop hardware, software, and operating systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex desktop-related issues escalated from the help desk or junior engineers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain desktop infrastructure solutions
  • Deploy and manage desktop images, software packages, and security updates using tools such as SCCM
  • Create and modify group policies to enforce security standards and enhance desktop performance
  • Support and administer Office 365 and Exchange Online services
  • Implement and maintain endpoint protection products such as SEP and Defender
  • Collaborate with team members to document processes, procedures, and technical configurations
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies related to desktop engineering
Requirements:
  • Several years of relevant managed services experience in a desktop engineering role
  • In-depth knowledge of ticketing tools, preferably ServiceNow, to manage and track support requests
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a service desk role, handling user inquiries and providing technical support
  • Proficiency in supporting Windows 10 desktop enterprise environments
  • Experience with deployment tools such as SCCM for image creation and software deployment
  • Strong expertise in creating and modifying group policies for desktop management
  • Familiarity with Office 365 and Exchange Online administration
  • Knowledge of endpoint protection products such as SEP and Defender
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • Basic understanding of ITILv3 framework and principles is desired
