We are seeking 2 x senior Python developers to join a project focused on building an optimisation tool.

The role can be based in Auckland or Hamilton.

This is an opportunity to work on a practical solution that improves operational efficiency and supports smarter decision-making across the business.

This role will suit someone who enjoys deep backend development and has built reliable, scalable systems in Python. We are looking for a developer with consistent hands-on experience rather than someone who has worked broadly across many areas without strong backend depth.

What you will be working on You will play a key role in designing and developing an optimisation platform that modernises legacy processes and integrates with existing systems. The work involves backend development, system integration, and collaborating with both technical teams and the business to deliver reliable solutions.


Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance existing software systems while supporting new integrations.
• Develop clean, efficient, and well-documented code that meets or exceeds coding standards.
• Collaborate with developers, business stakeholders, and external partners to deliver continuous improvements.
• Set up and maintain DevOps CI/CD pipelines to support reliable deployments.
• Provide technical insight to support the advancement of plant process management and operational systems.
• Assist with evaluating process management systems and related architectures.
• Contribute to the implementation of internal technology strategies and improvements.
• Maintain technical documentation and procedures aligned with IT operational standards.
• Build strong working relationships with IT teams to help resolve technical issues and drive improvements.

Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of Python development experience, ideally in recent roles.
• Strong backend engineering experience building production systems.
• Experience working with Linux environments.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerised deployments.
• Solid experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Exposure to web development frameworks and frontend web technologies.
• Experience working with Azure Cloud environments.
• Familiarity with Java and Spring Boot is beneficial.
• Experience establishing or managing CI/CD pipelines.
